By day, Grant Hope is Trust Management’s Chief Executive in charge of strategy and governance. By night, you can quite literally find him with his hands in the dirt or attaching bait to a hook at his cherished Kaipara Harbour lifestyle block.
A strong leader, Grant enjoys mobilising others to reach shared goals. With more than 25 years in business and fifteen at Trust Management, his talents have allowed him to work for an expanding number of iconic trusts located everywhere from Aotearoa New Zealand to Polynesia and Melanesia.
Grant and his wife Bridget’s two Labradors frequently keep the couple on the move. As a professional who works tirelessly for clients, he effectively applies that kind of energy in the workplace as well.
It's Grant’s experience growing up in a large family that primed his interpersonal skills, at least early on. He also credits the diversity of clients and colleagues that he's worked with, with broadening his horizons, especially with regard to input on strategy and governance.
Grant says strategy, at its core, is rather simple – you must have a purpose and a plan to achieve it. You must continue to consider that purpose, and you must have the right information on hand to make good decisions in implementing or changing the plan.
“Time is a great teacher," Grant stressed, in reference to how he became so skilled in his line of work. “Over many years, I have been very lucky to have worked with some very experienced and committed people who I continue to see as mentors in the role I have today.”
Looking forward, Grant is committed to implementing Trust Management's mission of providing exceptional work to a growing number of charities and the beneficiaries and regions they serve.
